Action global health partnership

This is a global public health partnership of 13 local NGOs around the globe. It aims to reduce the disease of poverty and influence global financing architecture in public health. HDT is currently the ACTION Africa secretariat, a group of partners in Africa under the ACTION Global Advocacy Partnership.

The overarching goal of the ACTION Global Health Partnership is to mobilize resources and strengthen political commitment to improve global health outcomes. This goal is pursued through several key issue areas:

Objectives:
Ending the Epidemics: This section focuses on mobilizing resources and political commitment to end TB, AIDS, and malaria. Objectives within this area include:
• Increasing political support and funding for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM).
• Increasing domestic spending on and prioritization of responses to these diseases.
• Ensuring Global Fund policies on eligibility, transition, and sustainability are implemented effectively.

GAVI: This section concentrates on addressing the major causes of preventable child mortality and morbidity through improved access to vaccines and nutrition, as well as other interventions to improve reproductive, maternal, newborn, adolescent, and child health (RMNACH). Objectives in this area include:
• Ensuring full funding for GAVI, the Vaccine Alliance.
• Increasing accountability for multi-year commitments from key donors.
• Building political support for immunization.
• Increasing domestic and donor resources for nutrition interventions.
• Ensuring the World Bank delivers increased resources for nutrition.
Global Funding: This section aims to improve the quality of health services with a focus on Universal Health Coverage (UHC), domestic resource mobilization (DRM), and innovative financing mechanisms. Objectives in this area include:
• Ensuring increased funding from the International Development Association (IDA) for global health and nutrition outcomes.
• Increasing utilization of World Bank spending on human capital (health) by implementing country governments.
• Leveraging the Global Fund and GAVI for greater impact on primary healthcare (PHC), particularly in challenging environments.
• Building regional civil society advocacy to support increased DRM in Africa.

ACTION Global Health Partnership aims to make significant progress towards improving global health outcomes, particularly in areas like ending epidemics, ensuring a healthy start for children, and building equitable and sustainable health systems.
